Computing Intent, Implementation and Impact Statement
Intent
At Lowercroft Primary School, we aim to equip our pupils with the essential digital literacy and computational thinking skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly technological world. Our computing curriculum, underpinned by the National Curriculum, aims to:
- Develop pupils' understanding of how computers and computer systems work.
- Enable pupils to use technology safely, responsibly, and respectfully.
- Foster creativity and problem-solving skills through the creation of digital content.
- Prepare pupils for future careers in a digital age.
Implementation
To achieve our computing intent, we implement the following strategies:
- High-quality teaching and learning: Our teachers use the Purple Mash scheme to deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons that cater to the diverse needs of our pupils.
- Practical, hands-on activities: We provide opportunities for pupils to experiment with a variety of digital tools and technologies, such as coding, animation, and digital art.
- Safe and responsible online behaviour: We teach pupils how to stay safe online, recognising and reporting online risks.
- Cross-curricular integration: We embed computing skills into other subjects, such as maths, English, and science, to enhance learning and understanding.
- Regular assessment and feedback: We assess pupils' progress regularly to inform teaching and learning, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Impact
Our computing curriculum has a positive impact on our pupils, enabling them to:
- Become confident and creative users of technology.
- Develop strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate effectively with others on digital projects.
- Understand the ethical implications of technology use.
- Prepare for the future workforce.
